NSW Health has issued a warning regarding a measles-infected individual who travelled through Sydney on Sunday. The person arrived from Singapore on Singapore Airlines flight SQ221, touching down at Sydney International Airport at 6:15 AM on April 12.
After disembarking, the individual transferred to Sydney’s T8 train line to Central, before continuing on the T1 line to St Leonards, reaching their destination by 7:30 AM.
In the afternoon, the person visited two locations: the Only Coffee Project in Crows Nest between 2:30 PM and 2:45 PM, and Woolworths in Crows Nest from 3 PM to 4 PM. NSW Health is advising anyone who may have been at these locations during the specified times to monitor for signs of measles, which include fever, runny nose, sore eyes, and cough. Those displaying symptoms should seek medical attention promptly.
Individuals who have not been vaccinated, lack a previous infection, or have compromised immune systems are particularly vulnerable to the virus. For a comprehensive list of recent exposure sites, residents are encouraged to visit the NSW Health website.
It is crucial for the community to remain vigilant, especially given the ongoing circulation of measles in New South Wales, Queensland, and Victoria.
