A disturbing incident on the Gold Coast has come to light, featuring a woman hanging onto the bonnet of a moving vehicle during a road rage clash. The event, which transpired in July, involved 22-year-old Natalie Alice Shaw, who alleged that another woman was obstructing her as she attempted to enter a car park while driving the wrong way.

Security footage reveals that after being blocked, Shaw’s red car moved into a drive-thru, where the confrontation escalated as the other woman attempted to forcibly open Shaw’s car door. Shaw later recounted how the unnamed woman confronted her, dramatically challenging, “What are you going to do? Hit me?” to which Shaw replied, “Well, yeah if you’re in my way, I’m gonna get you to move out of my way.”

In a shocking twist, the woman jumped onto the bonnet of Shaw’s car as she tried to leave the car park and merge onto the busy Olsen Avenue, which has a speed limit of 60 km/h. In the chaos, Shaw attempted to dislodge the woman by swerving, while the woman shouted for Shaw to “slow the f— down.” Eventually, the woman fell off the vehicle as it sped along the road.

Following the incident, Shaw was charged with dangerous driving. During a court appearance, Magistrate Sarah Thompson expressed her astonishment at the abnormality of the event, stating, “In 25 years of practice, I have never seen such bizarre behaviour.” She noted that both individuals endangered each other during the altercation, highlighting the poor decisions made in a volatile situation. Ultimately, Shaw received a six-month driving ban, casting doubt on her aspirations of competing in the 2028 LA Paralympics as a rising para-athlete.
