Over 2,000 supporters have expressed their intention to participate in the peaceful demonstration, which aims to call for comprehensive changes within the club, particularly focusing on management, after enduring a series of disappointing seasons both on and off the field.
The rally has gained traction via social media, particularly through the Instagram channel titled “SAVE OUR SAINTS PROTEST,” which has attracted considerable attention from fellow fans. Organisers of the protest have clarified that their grievances are directed at the management rather than the players. A spokesperson emphasised, “We aren’t turning on the players; we are just fed up with corporate policies ruining this once-great club. We’ve had enough, and this new generation of passionate St George fans is here to reclaim our Saints.”
Emotions are running high among supporters, with one fan voicing their frustration about the club’s current state. “For years, our club has been stuck in mediocrity. One of the proudest clubs with one of the richest histories in the league has faded into a shadow of its former self,” they lamented. They expressed that while the coaching situation is concerning, the issues extend much deeper, highlighting a divided board and a director of football who has seen four different coaches throughout their tenure, achieving a solitary finals appearance in 2018.
