Jordan Peterson, the well-known psychologist and commentator, is currently experiencing severe health challenges attributed to akathisia, a debilitating neurological condition. His daughter, Mikhaila Peterson, shared these revelations in a heartfelt 35-minute video posted on X, highlighting the “catastrophic” effects this condition has had on her father.

Akathisia manifests as a compelling need to move, making it difficult for individuals to remain still. Mikhaila explained that her father’s symptoms worsened last year, compounded by exposure to mould after moving homes and exacerbated by stress and subsequent pneumonia that led to sepsis. She noted that it has been six years since her father last took any medication for psychological issues, following his struggles with benzodiazepine dependence, which he sought treatment for in the past.

In her update, Mikhaila expressed her intention not to provide further updates on her father’s condition, as discussing it causes significant stress for both her family and herself. She indicated that there is little more to report until his situation improves.

Jordan Peterson first gained widespread recognition through his YouTube channel, where he opposed Canada’s Bill C-16, which aimed to prevent discrimination based on gender identity and expression. He has also authored two books, including the bestselling “12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos,” which he promoted globally, including in Australia.

The Peterson family continues to navigate this challenging situation while seeking privacy and peace during this difficult time.
