Jefferson Lewis, a 47-year-old man, has been charged with the murder of five-year-old Kumanjayi Little Baby. The young boy’s body was found near Old Timers Camp, situated south of Alice Springs, following a search that lasted five days.

After the discovery of Kumanjayi’s body on Thursday, Lewis was arrested hours later. Reports indicate that he sustained injuries prior to his arrest, necessitating a visit to the hospital. This tragic incident has garnered significant attention, prompting comments from Northern Territory Police Commissioner Martin Dole, who confirmed the murder charge earlier today.

Commissioner Dole expressed condolences, stating, “This remains a deeply distressing matter, and our thoughts are firmly with Kumanjayi’s family and loved ones.” The case highlights the ongoing issues surrounding violence and the vulnerability of young children in our communities.
