On Thursday morning, former Melbourne AFL player David Schwarz experienced an unexpected incident while on live radio. During an interview on SEN WA’s breakfast show, listeners heard the sudden honk of a car horn, hinting at trouble. Schwarz revealed he had just been lightly bumped by another vehicle, much to the surprise of his co-hosts, Tim Gossage and Scott Cummings.
In a moment of disbelief, Schwartz exclaimed, “Can you believe that? He’s just touched me. What a dickhead,” expressing his frustration over the encounter. He clarified that he had just received a parking fine before the man backed into him, describing the driver as a “goose.” Confident in his resolve, he mentioned he had taken note of the other vehicle’s registration plate and planned to follow up later.
Cummings, a former AFL Coleman Medallist, found the situation amusing, responding with laughter as Schwarz recounted the ordeal. Despite the awkward moment, Schwarz maintained his composure and continued the discussion.
Since making a return to SEN in 2024, Schwarz has been a fixture on the channel’s programming. His AFL career saw him play 173 matches for Melbourne from 1991 to 2002 before transitioning into sports media, where he’s remained a popular figure. Recently, he had the honour of presenting club debutants with their jumpers for round one.
