A tragic incident occurred in Ascot Vale, Melbourne, where one person lost their life and another is in critical condition following a car crash outside a major comic convention.
The incident took place just after 5 PM on Langs Road, as a grey Toyota reportedly veered off the road and struck two pedestrians. One of the victims, who has not yet been formally identified, unfortunately died at the scene. The second pedestrian was rushed to hospital and is currently fighting for their life.
Victoria Police confirmed that a man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is being questioned by authorities. The area was bustling with attendees of the Supanova Comic Con, which was taking place nearby, with thousands present when the collision occurred.
Witnesses described observing a vehicle moving at high speed towards the gathering, contributing to a scene that was described as chaotic. In response to the seriousness of the situation, a major crime scene has been established, and the State Emergency Service (SES) has also been deployed to assist.
