A manhunt is underway in Newcastle, New South Wales, to locate a prisoner, Kyle Quayle, who was mistakenly released earlier this week. Quayle, aged 35, was serving a sentence for theft and assault-related offences when he was released from a correctional facility on Tuesday. This unintentional release has led police to issue a warrant for his arrest, categorising him as unlawfully at large.

Authorities believe that Quayle is still within the Newcastle area, and they are actively searching for him. In an effort to aid the search, police have released a photograph of Quayle, who is described as Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander in descent, standing approximately 180cm tall, with a medium build, black hair, brown eyes, and an unshaven appearance.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact CrimeStoppers at 1800 333 000.
