A man in Queensland is in critical condition following a brutal stabbing during a home invasion early in the morning. The incident occurred at a residence on Plateau Crescent in Carrara just before dawn when an unknown male intruder broke into the home. As the residents, a man and a woman, were alerted and confronted the intruder, the assailant reportedly attacked the man with a knife, inflicting eight stab wounds that have left him with life-threatening injuries.
The woman sustained minor injuries, including a cut to her chest. Emergency services were called shortly after 4 am, and both victims were transported to Gold Coast University Hospital. The man, who arrived in a serious condition, is currently stabilised, while the woman has been discharged after her treatment.
Witnesses in the neighbourhood reported hearing barking dogs and screeching tyres, suggesting a chaotic scene as the perpetrator fled in a dark SUV after the attack. Authorities have established a crime scene and are actively searching for the weapon used in the assault.
