A man in Queensland is facing life-threatening injuries following a brutal stabbing during a home invasion in Carrara. The incident occurred just before dawn when an unidentified male suspect broke into the residence on Plateau Crescent. The intruder entered the kitchen, where the homeowners, a man and woman, confronted him.
In a violent encounter, the intruder stabbed the man a staggering eight times, causing severe injuries. The woman also sustained minor injuries, including a cut to her chest. Emergency services arrived on the scene shortly after 4 am, transporting both individuals to the Gold Coast University Hospital. The male victim was initially in life-threatening condition but is now reported to be in serious but stable health. The female victim has since been discharged after treatment.
Witnesses reported hearing loud disturbances, including “barking dogs and screeching tyres,” as the attacker fled the scene in a dark SUV. Authorities have cordoned off the area as a crime scene and are currently searching for the weapon used in the assault. Police suspect the incident may be linked to a similar robbery that occurred in nearby Nerang, also involving a dark SUV.
Queensland Police have stressed the importance of securing homes and advised residents against confronting intruders. They consider this attack random and do not believe the offender had any prior acquaintance with the victims. As the investigation continues, police are appealing for information, urging anyone with dash cam or CCTV footage of a dark SUV in the vicinity around the time of the incident to come forward. No arrests have been made, and police believe the perpetrator acted alone. The community is left on alert as investigations progress.
