A fourth individual has been charged in connection with the alleged kidnapping and murder of 85-year-old Sydney grandfather Chris Baghsarian. The incident took place on February 13 when Baghsarian was abducted from his home in North Ryde. Police suspect that the widower was mistakenly identified as a target, suggesting he was not the intended victim.

Baghsarian’s remains were discovered on February 24 near a golf club in Pitt Town. Following these developments, a 19-year-old man was arrested at Mount Druitt Police Station on the morning of February 28. He now faces charges of murder and kidnapping with intent to ransom, and has been denied bail, with a court appearance scheduled for today.

To date, three other suspects have also been charged and remain before the courts. Among them are 24-year-old Daniel Stevens and 29-year-old Gerard Andrews, both accused of being involved in a joint criminal enterprise leading to Baghsarian’s death. Additionally, 23-year-old Delkin Donnelly was apprehended in late March, facing multiple charges, including murder and possessing an unauthorised firearm. He, too, has been refused bail due to the nature of the charges, which also included weapons and drug offences following a raid on his home that uncovered firearms and illicit substances.

Detective Acting Superintendent Andrew Marks has indicated that as many as nine individuals might have been implicated in the kidnapping and murder, suggesting these individuals could belong to various groups. He noted that the house in Dural, believed to be where Baghsarian was held, was likely a hub for many of the accused involved in this crime, with significant crossover of activities between the different locations linked to the case.

Superintendent Marks emphasised that a number of individuals played key roles in the unfolding of the events, with the Dural location serving as a central point for the illicit activities and the disposal of Baghsarian’s remains. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
