During his second day in Australia, the Duke of Sussex participated in a friendly kickaround with children and players at the Western Bulldogs’ facility, Mission Whitten Oval in Footscray, Melbourne. He showcased his football skills, rating himself a modest “six out of ten.”

Bulldogs players Matthew Kennedy, Tom Liberatore, and Adam Treloar enjoyed some time with Harry on the field. Following the kickabout, Kennedy expressed his enthusiasm, sharing that while Harry’s skills could improve, he appreciated the former royal’s keen interest and engagement during their conversation. Kennedy also gifted Harry a Bulldogs scarf, which he wore throughout the visit, and joked about possibly convincing him to become a member if the team secured a victory later that week.

The two players, Kennedy and Treloar, had a lighthearted interaction, discussing their kids and Harry’s sporting background, with Kennedy noting how unique it was to engage with someone like him. Treloar initially thought Harry’s presence was a prank until he saw the media setting up, only becoming a believer when Harry appeared.

Harry, who revealed he follows AFL from his home in the US, expressed disappointment upon receiving a children’s football instead of an adult size but seemed to take it in stride. His visit included participating in a mental health panel organised by the Movember charity, showcasing his commitment to community resilience and support for mental health initiatives.

This marks Harry and Meghan’s first trip to Australia since their royal tour in 2018 and their first since stepping back from royal duties in 2020. Following their Melbourne engagements, the couple is scheduled to visit Canberra before returning briefly to Melbourne and then heading to Sydney.
