Two drivers have been charged following a tragic incident in which a 20-year-old aspiring cricketer lost his life after a car plunged into a weir in Sydney’s Royal National Park. Muhammad Kashif was a passenger in a blue Audi that reportedly swerved off Audley Road early yesterday morning. While the driver managed to escape, Kashif became trapped inside the vehicle, and divers later recovered his body.

Witnesses informed police that an Audi and a Mercedes were travelling on the road when the crash occurred, although authorities have stated that there was no apparent collision between the two cars. Both drivers were taken to hospital for mandatory testing, and a crime scene was established for further investigation.

The driver of the Audi, alongside an 18-year-old Mercedes driver, were arrested later that day and taken to Sutherland Police Station. The Audi driver faces serious charges, including dangerous driving causing death and negligent driving causing death. Meanwhile, the 18-year-old has been charged with multiple offences, including driving while disqualified and possession of a controlled substance.

Both individuals have been granted conditional bail and are scheduled to appear in court on June 18. Kashif, who was studying electrical engineering and had a passion for cricket, was remembered fondly by his former coach, Omar Khan, who highlighted his positive spirit and infectious smile, stating that he would be deeply missed.
