In his recent comments, former President Donald Trump provided a critical evaluation of UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s ability to weather the storm surrounding the appointment of Lord Peter Mandelson, a known associate of Jeffrey Epstein, as the ambassador to Washington. Trump expressed scepticism about Starmer’s prospects, stating that his chances of recovery hinge on significant changes in policies, particularly in energy and immigration.
“If he were to exploit the North Sea for its resources and adopt a stronger stance on immigration policies, which currently are lacking, he could turn things around. However, without those changes, I doubt he has any future,” Trump remarked during an interview, in response to his previous comments shared on Truth Social. In that post, he labelled Mandelson as “a really bad pick” but acknowledged that Starmer still has “plenty of time to recover.”
Moreover, Trump has not hesitated to criticise the UK and other NATO allies for their perceived lack of commitment in supporting the US’s military efforts concerning Iran, highlighting a broader concern about international alliances in conflict situations.
