Emerging details have identified Cole Tomas Allen, a 31-year-old from Torrance, California, as the alleged gunman involved in the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, which was attended by former US President Donald Trump. According to Trump, the suspect was armed with multiple weapons prior to being subdued by Secret Service agents.

During the incident, one officer was shot, but thankfully, he was wearing a bulletproof vest. Reports indicate that the suspect managed to breach multiple security checkpoints before reaching the Hilton hotel, where the event was held. Trump shared CCTV footage on Truth Social, capturing the moment the alleged shooter charged through security.

At the time of the shooting, a significant law enforcement presence, including police and Secret Service agents, was stationed at a security hub near the banquet hall. Witnesses described the suspect sprinting with a long firearm when security responded by firing in his direction. Trump praised the quick reaction of law enforcement, noting the suspect’s urgent movements.

Visuals from the scene depict the gravity of the situation, including a man restrained on the floor by law enforcement. Trump labelled the suspect a “whack job” and characterised him as “sick.” Authorities believe the shooter acted alone. Attorney General Todd Blanche confirmed that charges related to the shooting and weapons possession are anticipated against Allen.
