Despite Zampolli’s enthusiasm, Italy is currently absent from the tournament after failing to qualify through the playoffs. He believes that their admission could foster better relations between Donald Trump and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. Zampolli’s connections also extend to FIFA president Gianni Infantino, with whom he has discussed this idea.
In contrast, Infantino has been vocal in support of Iran’s participation, noting their recent qualification.
