A TikTok influencer, Yisra El Moubayed, appeared in court on Monday, facing charges of affray stemming from an incident at a Bankstown hair salon. The 23-year-old, who boasts over 500,000 followers on the platform, reportedly visited the Hair in the Square salon with her mother around 3 PM on Sunday, seeking a hair colour treatment. However, salon staff informed her that they were unable to accommodate her request due to time constraints.
Subsequent events turned chaotic, with witnesses claiming the influencer was seen yelling, pulling hair, and even throwing a pot plant. Following the incident, El Moubayed shared a now-deleted TikTok video alleging she was acting in self-defence. Despite her assertions, police took her into custody the next morning, resulting in her charge of affray.
During the court proceedings, El Moubayed became emotional as her lawyer highlighted her difficult past and mentioned that she is currently enrolled in a program to train as a miner. Outside the courthouse, she declined to comment further on the case. The incident has attracted significant media attention, not only due to her social media presence but also because of the nature of the altercation.
As the case unfolds, El Moubayed’s supporters and critics alike are keenly observing the developments, and her online followers may be left contemplating the implications of her actions in the public eye.
