A woman from Queensland is set to appear in court today after being charged with torture and neglect concerning a child. The case revolves around a 10-year-old girl who was taken to Queensland Children’s Hospital in serious condition, suffering from dehydration, severe malnutrition, and multiple untreated injuries. Currently, she is in intensive care but is reported to be stable.
The police were alerted to the situation, prompting an investigation which designated the girl’s home in Logan Reserve as a crime scene. As a result of their inquiries, the 40-year-old woman has been charged with three counts of failing to provide the necessities of life, in addition to one count of torture. She is expected to face the Beenhig Magistrates Court today.
