Tom Trbojevic has openly shared his emotional response to yet another hamstring injury, marking his eighth in as many seasons. The fullback expressed that while he was devastated, he had no thoughts of retiring from rugby league. Following a recent match against North Queensland, where he sustained the injury early on, Trbojevic was seen struggling off the field, looking up in dismay. In a candid interview with 9News, he acknowledged shedding a few tears in the dressing room, further illustrating the toll such persistent injuries have taken on him.

At 29 years old and facing up to eight weeks of recovery, Trbojevic has battled injuries that have interrupted his performance since winning the Dally M Medal in 2021, which has hindered his consistency on the field. He remarked on the extensive work he has put into his physical fitness and the support from his team at Manly, saying, “You just want to be able to go out there and play footy.” To combat doubts within himself, he emphasised the importance of hard work and a return to form.

The Sea Eagles have found renewed success under interim coach Kieran Foran, who took over after the departure of Anthony Seibold. Since his arrival, Manly has shown remarkable improvement, winning several matches by substantial margins. Trbojevic praised Foran’s influence, expressing a strong desire for him to receive the head coaching position permanently. He commended Foran’s ability to inspire the team, saying, “What he’s done since coming in a few weeks ago has been unbelievable.”

Foran’s leadership has revitalised the Sea Eagles, igniting a newfound passion and commitment within the squad. Trbojevic highlighted the respect and motivation that Foran brings, noting how seriously he approaches both coaching and communication.

While the physical toll of injuries continues to challenge Trbojevic, his determination to overcome these setbacks remains steadfast, alongside his admiration for the impact of his former teammate turned coach.
