Western Australia Police are currently looking into an incident that transpired on a train in Perth, where an off-duty officer restrained a 13-year-old girl. As part of their standard procedure, authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the train, although the footage from the Public Transport Authority remains under wraps. However, video recorded by the girl’s friend has surfaced on social media.

The circulating footage shows the off-duty officer pinning the girl down before moving her to a seat during the incident, which occurred around 4pm on the Yanchep Line. In the video, the girl’s friends can be heard expressing concern, pleading “her head, her head,” as the officer appears to restrain the girl forcefully.

Authorities reported that the situation escalated after the girl allegedly punched the officer in the face during a verbal dispute involving two groups. While there has not been a formal complaint from those involved, the police are scrutinising the officer’s behaviour during the encounter.

Despite the ongoing investigation, the officer continues to carry out operational duties.
