Teen sprint sensation Charlotte Ehioghae made headlines again after an impressive performance at the Australian Athletics Junior Championships. The 14-year-old from Perth secured her second consecutive victory, further elevating her status as a rising star in the athletics world.

Competing under challenging conditions with a -1.5mps headwind in the under-16 girls’ 100 metres final, Ehioghae delivered a standout performance, finishing in a remarkable time of 11.60 seconds. This victory marks her as a formidable competitor, as she dominated her rivals, with Tannah Hildebrand and Jayla Olm following in second and third, clocking 12.01 and 12.04 seconds, respectively.

Despite the unfavourable wind, Ehioghae was just 0.15 seconds shy of breaking the under-16 national record of 11.45 seconds, set by fellow West Australian Emilia Reed at last year’s junior championships. This latest achievement comes on the heels of her record-breaking 200-metre run, where she clocked an impressive 23.07 seconds, making her the second-fastest under-18 Australian sprinter of all time, trailing only the legend Raelene Boyle.

Ehioghae’s recent feats have garnered significant attention on social media, with her 200-metre video racking up nearly 50,000 views on X, and another clip attracting 31,000 views. Her performances have not only showcased her talent but have also sparked excitement around her future prospects.

Born to Nigerian parents in Perth, Ehioghae has set her sights high, with ambitions for the Brisbane 2032 Olympics and a personal goal of achieving a 100m time of 10.70 seconds during her teenage years. This target would surpass the national record of 11.08 seconds set by the extraordinary Torrie Lewis at the Tokyo World Championships last year.

With aspirations that include the admiration of fellow sprint star Gout Gout from Ipswich, Ehioghae is ready to make her mark in athletics. Her journey appears to be just beginning, with fans eagerly anticipating her next moves on the sprinting circuit.

Stay tuned for more updates on this remarkable young athlete and her journey in the competitive world of sprinting.
