Tom Trbojevic’s ongoing struggle with injuries has resurfaced, forcing him to leave the field during a match against North Queensland due to a hamstring injury. The incident occurred just thirteen minutes into the game when Trbojevic sprinted around the short side, only to be tackled and immediately reach for his left hamstring while on the ground.

Commentator Phil Gould remarked on the gravity of the situation, noting the concern whenever Trbojevic clutches his hamstring. After hobbled off the field, Trbojevic gazed up at the night sky, a reflection of his frustration, as explained by Gould. Danika Mason from Nine confirmed that a silence swept over the stadium at the moment of the injury, highlighting the player’s significance to the game.

Trbojevic’s situation is particularly disappointing as just hours prior, rugby league legend Andrew Johns had praised his performance, suggesting that if he continued at this level, he could don the NSW No.1 jersey in upcoming State of Origin matches. Johns expressed sadness that such a talented player has yet to play in that position at the State level, given his unique abilities.

At 29 years old, the fullback’s injury woes are not new. He missed a month last season due to an MCL issue and has faced various hamstring problems since 2019. Remarkably, at the time of his injury in Townsville, his team, Manly, was leading 4-0. Fortunately, Trbojevic’s absence did not hinder the Sea Eagles, who went on to secure a decisive 38-6 victory, showcasing a strong team performance with notable contributions from players like Lehi Hopoate and Ben Trbojevic.

Despite his injury, Trbojevic was later seen in the coaches’ box alongside former teammate Kieran Foran, highlighting his ongoing involvement with the team. Gould praised the team’s professionalism throughout the game, underlining their ability to maintain focus and secure a win despite the setback of losing a key player.
