Australia is set to host an auction of its largest Lego collection, which features a staggering one million individual bricks and is valued at approximately $250,000. This extensive collection, owned by a Brisbane resident, will begin bidding at an attractive entry point of just $1.
Originally a therapeutic activity, the collection has evolved into a lifelong passion that the owner has meticulously nurtured over nearly five decades. The rare sets in this auction include sought-after items such as a limited edition Imperial Star Destroyer from Star Wars and the iconic Colosseum of Rome, which could each fetch tens of thousands of dollars.
In addition to these unique pieces, the collection boasts various sets themed around popular franchises including Harry Potter, Marvel, and Disney, as well as historic and real-world models like the White House and an antique typewriter.
Rachael McCann from Lloyd’s Auctions has highlighted that this collection isn’t just a significant part of local history. According to her research, it could potentially be one of the largest single vendor Lego collections ever offered at auction globally.
