Tamika Chesser, aged 34, has been charged with the murder of Julian Story, whose body was discovered at their home on Flinders Highway in Port Lincoln following reports of a small fire on June 19. Chesser was apprehended at the scene.
The charges against her include the murder of Story, which is believed to have occurred between June 16 and 19, as well as the disposal of human remains to obstruct justice and assaulting a police officer. A suppression order on Chesser’s identity and details of the case was lifted by Magistrate Ben Sale in Adelaide today, allowing for the publication of her name and the circumstances surrounding Story’s death.
During a video court appearance, Chesser was denied bail and is currently being held under a mental health detention order. This follows her previous bedside court hearing. She is scheduled to attend a committal hearing in December.
Chesser came into the public eye as a contestant on the reality television show Beauty and the Geek, where she finished as a runner-up in 2010. The police are expected to provide further updates on the investigation later today.
