A tragic two-car collision in South Australia has resulted in the death of a woman and serious injuries to three others. The incident occurred around 8 am at the intersection of Church Road and Port Wakefield Highway in Lower Light, situated north of Adelaide.

The crash involved a Mitsubishi ute and a Toyota sedan. The driver of the Toyota, a 55-year-old woman, sadly lost her life at the scene. Meanwhile, the Mitsubishi’s driver, a 70-year-old man, along with two passengers aged 58 and 42, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. One of the passengers was airlifted to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, while the other two were transported via ambulance.

Residents expressed their distress over the accident, describing it as an “awful” tragedy. Local Judy Dobson highlighted concerns about the safety of the road, noting that modifications following the construction of the dual carriageway have changed the road’s angle, contributing to its perceived danger.

Following the incident, Port Wakefield Highway was closed for several hours to facilitate clearance of the crash site but has since reopened to traffic. Authorities are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the accident to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers.

This incident underscores ongoing concerns regarding road safety in the area, prompting renewed calls for attention to road conditions.
