The wife of Sonmez Alagoz, who was tragically stabbed outside his pizza shop in western Sydney, described him as “the greatest man ever” and shared her profound grief following his shocking death. Turkan Alagoz conveyed the immense loss, emphasising her husband’s kind-hearted nature and dedication to their family, particularly their children. Their son, Vulkan Alagoz, highlighted his father’s generosity, noting that Sonmez was always willing to help anyone in need, whether it was offering a meal or a listening ear.
Sonmez Alagoz, 58, was found with a stab wound near his Pizza Stop store late on a Tuesday night and later succumbed to his injuries in hospital. On the day of his death, he had celebrated his granddaughter’s birthday, underscoring the personal loss to his family.
Police arrested several individuals in connection with the incident, including a 15-year-old boy who has since been charged with murder. The investigation revealed the attack was seemingly random, occurring shortly before the store’s closing time. Sonmez was described as a beloved figure in the community, admired for his warmth and kindness. According to NSW Police Superintendent Trent King, he was “very closely connected” to local residents, who mourn the loss of a man who always greeted them with a smile.
