A 16-year-old boy suffered multiple shark bites on his leg, bicep, and wrist while swimming, prompting fellow beachgoers to pull him to safety. An off-duty paramedic provided immediate first aid before he was airlifted to a hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.

Witness Archie Scally recorded the shocking incident, stating that he was casually enjoying the view when he noticed surfers rapidly making their way to shore, yelling in distress. “It was pretty confronting, especially with kids present during the attack,” he reflected. Upon reviewing his footage, he could see the shark approaching the shoreline.

While beaches along the Tweed Coast have since reopened, many still remain sparsely populated with swimmers due to reported shark sightings. Additionally, a video surfaced showcasing a close encounter between a surfer, Futa Hashimoto, and a large shark measuring around seven to eight feet, just 20 minutes from the initial attack site at Cabarita Beach. Hashimoto expressed his fear, stating, “It’s pretty big, that’s why I got scared.”
