The United States Navy has initiated a blockade on Iranian ports as part of a strategic move to compel Tehran to allow passage through the vital Strait of Hormuz and to negotiate a peace agreement.
Starting from 10am EDT on Monday (midnight Tuesday AEST), the US military’s Central Command revealed that this blockade will apply to all vessels, irrespective of their nationality, that attempt to enter or leave any Iranian ports and adjacent coastal regions. This includes all of Iran’s ports located on the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.
This aggressive action underscores the US commitment to securing maritime routes in the region and aims to exert pressure on Iran to modify its stance in ongoing negotiations.
