Authorities in Canberra are probing a series of shooting incidents that have resulted in a man suffering serious injuries and the death of a pet dog. Over the past six days, four separate shootings have occurred across the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), prompting police to execute search warrants in connection with the events, which they suspect may be interconnected.

The recent wave of violence began on Thursday, March 27, when a firearm was discharged in a residence in Greenway, south of Canberra. This incident led to one individual sustaining injuries from a ricochet. The next day, on Friday, March 28, multiple shots were fired at a property in Downer, located in Canberra’s inner-north, tragically resulting in the death of a dog.

On Saturday, March 29, police responded to reports of a shooting at a home on Knox Street in the nearby suburb of Watson. A man was taken to hospital in critical condition after being shot in the abdomen. It is reported that the assailants fled the scene in a dark vehicle, believed to be an Audi. Notably, this residence had previously been targeted in another shooting incident on March 25, as noted by the police.

Investigators from the ACT Police are working under the belief that three men are behind the series of shootings, which they consider to be targeted acts of violence. A spokesperson for the police underscored the deliberate nature of these incidents.

In an effort to gather more information, search warrants were conducted in Belconnen and Watson on the same day as the man’s shooting. Authorities are urging anyone with relevant details to reach out to the police or contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
