Family and school colleagues have paid heartfelt tributes to 17-year-old Stirling Heriot, who tragically lost his life in a car accident on a rural road in mid-west New South Wales. The incident occurred on Friday evening around 6:45pm in Quambone, where Heriot’s vehicle reportedly veered off the road and rolled over. Emergency services were unable to revive him, and he was declared dead on the scene.

The collision happened close to Heriot’s family property in Coonamble. A Year 12 student and boarder at the prestigious King’s School in Sydney, Stirling was also known for his impressive rowing skills. His mother, Bridie Heriot, shared a touching message on Facebook, expressing her anguish: “My beautiful boy, how will we do life without you? You could not have been loved more, and our hearts are full just thinking of you.”

The King’s School released a statement honouring Stirling, acknowledging his reputation for kindness and his active participation in school life. He was a valued member of the rowing team, and his work ethic shone through, especially in his Industrial Technology class, where he was constructing a tandem-axle multipurpose farm trailer for his family’s use.

Robbie Williams, Heriot’s former housemaster, spoke highly of the young man, highlighting the special bond they formed during his four years in the role. He described Stirling as “kind, caring and empathetic”, stating, “What I always loved about Stirling is that he is honest as the day is long and had no mean bone in his body.” Williams praised Stirling’s dedication and hard work, noting, “He would have made a real difference in our community and has been taken far too soon.”

Authorities have initiated an investigation into the crash, and a report is being prepared for the coroner. The loss of Stirling Heriot has deeply affected those who knew and loved him, leaving behind cherished memories of a promising young life cut short.
