Two security guards from The Lookout nightclub in Scarborough, Perth, have been dismissed following allegations of assaulting a young couple. The couple, who are parents to three children, described the incident on Sunday night as distressing.
The altercation began when security attempted to remove a patron who had been behaving inappropriately by kicking water on the dance floor. In an effort to assist, Nathan Kidd intervened but ended up being assaulted, reportedly receiving at least seven blows that resulted in a split lip and other injuries. Video footage shows him attempting to shield himself while one guard restrains him. Meanwhile, friends of the couple tried to de-escalate the situation, during which one guard was observed with his hands around a woman’s neck.
Western Australia’s Premier, Roger Cook, condemned any form of violence in crowd control situations as unacceptable. The two guards, identified as brothers Nazier and Enver Ibrahimovic, aged 32 and 37 respectively, face charges for intentionally causing harm. They have been released on bail and are prohibited from working in security or crowd control while the case is ongoing. Additionally, they are not allowed to contact the alleged victims; however, Nazier reportedly claimed he could not recall their appearance.
Management at The Lookout expressed disappointment regarding the incident, stating it contradicts the values the venue promotes. They confirmed that the involved security guards will not return to their roles.
