Police in Sydney are looking into a social media threat made against a mosque, following a similar incident that occurred weeks earlier. The threat originated from a TikTok account that reportedly invoked the memories of the 2019 Christchurch mass shooting in response to a video taken at the Lakemba Mosque.

The Lebanese Muslim Association has indicated that this troubling message is part of a series of three recent incidents linked to the Christchurch shootings, noting that this particular TikTok user has previously made provocative remarks.

Just two weeks prior, a 16-year-old boy faced charges for making an online threat directed at the Australian Islamic House Masjid Mosque located in Edmondson Park. New South Wales Police Commissioner Karen Webb underscored the seriousness with which law enforcement treats such threats; the teen was apprehended by WA police within just eight hours of the alleged comments being reported.

The ongoing investigations highlight a concerning trend of threats against places of worship, raising alarm within the community as authorities strive to ensure safety.
