Two police officers responded to reports of a man wielding a knife on Albert Street, Footscray, around 9pm last night. Upon arriving, the officers located the individual and instructed him to drop the weapon. However, he advanced towards them while still holding the knife, prompting both officers to discharge their firearms. Despite receiving medical attention from paramedics, the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene. As is customary in such cases, the homicide squad and the professional standards command have launched an investigation into the incident.
