A tragic incident occurred in Melbourne’s inner-west, where an 88-year-old man riding a mobility scooter lost his life following a collision with a truck. The accident took place just after 11:30 am at the intersection of Francis and Ballarat Streets in Yarraville. Despite emergency services’ efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities report that the truck driver is cooperating with the police as investigations into the crash continue. In light of the accident, Francis Street has been closed to all traffic between Hyde Street and Williamstown Road, leading to significant congestion in the surrounding areas. However, local residents and businesses can still access their locations on either side of the closure.

Motorists are being advised to avoid Francis Street for the time being, with alternative routes suggested that include the West Gate Bridge, Napier, Buckley, Geelong, Hopkins, Moore, and Ballarat Roads. The police are diligently working to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
