A tragic accident on the Bruce Highway in Queensland has resulted in the death of a man in his 80s. The incident occurred at Nirimba around 11:20 AM when a Mazda ute towing a caravan collided with another ute. Following the collision, the Mazda veered off the road and fell down an embankment into a creek.
Emergency services responded promptly to the scene, including critical care paramedics. Unfortunately, the driver of the Mazda was pronounced dead at the site of the accident. The woman who was a passenger in the vehicle, believed to be in her 60s, was taken to hospital in serious condition. The driver of the other ute was reportedly uninjured.
The crash resulted in significant traffic disruption, with one northbound lane closed for several hours while authorities managed the incident. Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and are calling for dashcam footage from motorists who may have witnessed the events leading up to the collision.
