Victoria Police reported that their Air Wing was conducting patrols when they noticed a speeding Toyota Hilux on the Western Ring Road just after midnight. The vehicle had false number plates, prompting ground officers to be alerted. They were directed to Weemala Court in Meadows Heights, where the driver abandoned the vehicle.

Following the incident, the suspect fled on foot but was subsequently located hiding in the backyard of a nearby home. The individual, hailing from Dallas in Melbourne’s northern suburbs, faces multiple charges including the theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving while being pursued by police, and reckless conduct endangering life. Additional charges include driving at dangerous speeds, breaching bail conditions, drug possession, and various driving offences.

Detectives plan to question him regarding the theft of several vehicles in the local area. He has been remanded to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today. Police have linked the stolen Hilux to an incident on 30 March, when it was taken from outside a gym on Pascoe Vale Road in Coolaroo.
