A stabbing incident on a bus in Melbourne’s east has left a man critically injured and a woman in serious condition. The confrontation unfolded shortly after midnight on a Wantirna South-bound bus in Rowville, where an argument erupted between two men and a woman.
During the dispute, one of the men allegedly brandished a knife, causing slashes to both the other man and the woman in the face and upper body. The injured parties are a 59-year-old man from Scoresby, who is currently in critical condition, and a 53-year-old woman from Ferntree Gully, who is reported to be in serious condition. Notably, police indicated that the individuals involved were not known to one another prior to the altercation.
Authorities responded swiftly to the scene, deploying the dog squad to assist in locating the assailant, but initially, the suspect eluded capture. Hours later, a man fitting the suspect’s description was apprehended by police in the Knoxfield area. The arrested individual, a 36-year-old man from Melbourne, is expected to be interrogated by investigators soon.
