A 36-year-old man was charged today in connection with antisemitic attacks that occurred in Sydney’s eastern suburbs last December. He was arrested at Parklea Correctional Centre for allegedly damaging vehicles and properties in Woollahra on December 11, where evidence of anti-Israel graffiti was found. The incidents included the torching of two cars and vandalism to two buildings and a footpath along Magney Street, leading to estimated damages of around $20,000.
The man faces charges for engaging in criminal activity, damaging property, and driving without consent. He was denied bail and is set to appear in court in April. His arrest follows that of a 34-year-old woman from Liverpool last month, who remains before the court. Overall, 13 individuals aged between 19 and 40 have been charged as part of Strike Force Pearl, a NSW Police initiative aimed at addressing a series of alleged antisemitic offences. Authorities encourage anyone who has experienced or witnessed a hate crime to report it to Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
