A bubble tea shop in Adelaide’s Munno Para shopping centre was targeted by a knife-wielding robber yesterday evening. The incident occurred shortly before 8:30 PM, as staff were preparing to close the CoCo Bubble Tea store. CCTV footage revealed that the assailant entered the establishment posing as a regular customer before brandishing a box cutter and demanding cash from the young employee on duty.
When the staff member hesitated, the robber threatened to leap over the counter, which prompted her to comply and open the cash register. He managed to snatch a few hundred dollars and fled the scene within just 30 seconds. Fortunately, the employee was left shaken but unharmed.
Store owner Rish expressed his disbelief, stating that it was the first time such an event had occurred, and acknowledged the fear it instilled in both staff and customers. He noted that the suspect had been lurking outside in his car for several minutes, monitoring the store and waiting for patrons to leave before making his move.
While police arrived promptly at the scene to conduct an investigation, the offender remains at large.
