A 29-year-old man has been charged following a violent confrontation involving a large group in South Granville, western Sydney. The incident occurred around 5:40 PM on Sunday, February 9, when police responded to reports of a brawl involving 30 to 40 individuals armed with knives, machetes, and baseball bats at a reserve on Byrnes Street. Upon their arrival, the assailants fled the scene on foot and in vehicles.
Officers discovered a 28-year-old man who sustained serious head injuries and was subsequently transported to hospital in critical condition. In the aftermath, the 29-year-old was apprehended on Mons Street, facing charges of affray and carrying a knife in public. He has been denied bail and is set to appear in court today.
