Hunter Injured in Shooting Incident in NSW Central Tablelands

A 70-year-old man is in a critical state after being unintentionally shot during a hunting excursion in the Central Tablelands of New South Wales. The incident occurred on a rural property located on Campbells River Road, approximately 20 kilometres south of Oberon.

Emergency medical services attended to the injured man, treating him for a gunshot wound to his right shoulder before airlifting him to Westmead Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

Initial reports indicate that the man and his 47-year-old son were in the process of securing their firearms on the back of a utility vehicle when a shot accidentally discharged from the son’s weapon. The duo had been engaged in hunting activities on the land at the time of the accident.

Authorities have commenced an investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
