Hollywood actor Liam Neeson is set to return to Melbourne for his upcoming thriller film, The Mongoose, marking his third filming project in Victoria. Scheduled to begin production in January, the film is anticipated to create approximately 453 jobs and contribute over $19 million to the local economy. Neeson previously filmed Blacklight in 2020 and Ice Road 2: Road to the Sky earlier this year in the same region.

Known for renowned roles in films such as Taken, Schindler’s List, and Love Actually, Neeson will work alongside producer Al Corley and director Bart Rosenblatt in this new venture. The production team will be based at the Melbourne Screen Hub in Footscray, which serves as a hub for local screen businesses.

VicScreen CEO Caroline Pitcher expressed enthusiasm for Neeson’s return, emphasizing that positive experiences for international producers foster ongoing interest in Victoria’s film industry. This latest project highlights Victoria’s growing reputation as a key player in film production, benefiting local workers and businesses. With the wealth of opportunities that the state offers, it continues to attract notable talent like Neeson back to its vibrant filmmaking landscape.
