Four individuals are currently evading capture following the alleged theft of two vehicles in Melbourne’s south-east yesterday. Authorities report that the group broke into a residence on Wheatley Road in McKinnon around 1:15 am, stealing a white BMW X3 and a grey 2016 Mercedes-Benz sedan before making their getaway.

A 19-year-old occupant of the house pursued the offenders in his own car, tracking them to the area near Glenhuntly Road and Allison Street in Elsternwick. During the chase, the stolen Mercedes reversed into the victim’s vehicle, resulting in significant damage. Subsequently, the perpetrators fled the scene, leaving the victim behind.

Later that morning, police located the stolen BMW on Villiers Street in Elsternwick. However, the Mercedes remains unaccounted for. The suspects, described as males in their mid to late teens, were seen wearing distinctive clothing. One was clad in a black jacket over a grey hoodie paired with grey tracksuit pants, while another sported a black hoodie featuring an orange Nike logo and coordinated black and grey tracksuit pants. Additionally, one of the men believed to be involved in the Mercedes theft was dressed in a dark hoodie, dark shorts, and black slide-on shoes, while another was in a light-coloured hoodie, dark trousers, and dark footwear.

Police have indicated that the stolen Mercedes was reportedly sighted on Heatherton Road in Noble Park shortly after midday. The investigation is ongoing as law enforcement seeks to apprehend the individuals behind this brazen burglary.
