In an impressive display of dominance, the Dolphins triumphed over the Cowboys with a staggering 58-4 victory in Townsville, even without veteran forward Felise Kaufusi. The match began explosively, with Jack Bostock scoring a spectacular try in just the third minute, showcasing his agility by darting and spinning along the sideline before grounding the ball.

However, Kaufusi’s game took a turn as he received a sin-binning for a high tackle on Thomas Duffy, who had only just stepped onto the field to replace Scott Drinkwater, who was undergoing a head injury assessment. Initial observations suggested that heads had collided during the tackle attempt, but after review by the Bunker, it was confirmed as high contact. Referee Todd Smith ruled the contact as moderate force, resulting in Kaufusi’s temporary dismissal.

Undeterred, the Dolphins capitalised on their momentum. Despite the Cowboys having an extra player, they struggled to contain the relentless Dolphins’ attack. Bostock bagged his second try shortly after, thanks to a high ball from Jake Clifford. Oryn Keely added to the scoreboard for the Dolphins before Murray Taulagi finally put points on the board for the Cowboys.

As half-time approached, the Dolphins extended their lead with Kurt Donoghoe scoring from close range amidst confusion following a loose ball. Bostock continued his scoring spree, notching a third try early in the second half with a well-timed pass from Herbie Farnworth.

The tally continued to rise as Jake Averillo, Farnworth, Ray Stone, and Kodi Nikorima all added their names to the try-scoring list, with Bostock ultimately finishing the night with four tries. He nearly secured a fifth, which would have marked the club’s 21st try in merely two weeks, but, sadly, he fumbled the ball with no defenders in sight, prompting a disappointed response from commentator Andrew Voss.

Overall, the match exemplified the Dolphins’ preparation and execution, showcasing their readiness to compete at a high level despite the absence of a key player.
