Bill McDonald, a vibrant centenarian from the Gold Coast, recently celebrated his 100th birthday. His remarkable longevity can be attributed to a blend of his daily lawn bowls, a lifelong habit of consuming a spoonful of honey, and an abundance of treasured memories. “I’ve had honey since I was a sprout,” he shared, crediting his good health to this simple ritual. He humorously advised, “A dessert spoonful every day, and you’ll be right,” asserting that it seems to benefit his mobility.
Although he was an avid fisherman in his youth, McDonald has found joy in lawn bowls, remarking on his moderate success, “I try, and I suppose on average, I do alright. I’m satisfied.” His milestone has not gone unnoticed; he has received congratulatory letters from the King, the Governor, and local parliamentarians, reflecting the great respect held for him in the community.
