The Canterbury Bulldogs are facing a significant setback as second-rower Jaeman Salmon is set to be sidelined for up to 10 weeks due to a fractured ankle, confirmed by scans. This injury will require surgical intervention.

The 26-year-old player sustained the injury during the Bulldogs’ recent 32-20 victory over Canberra, shortly after reigniting his rivalry with Raiders coach Ricky Stuart. He was visibly struggling to support his ankle when he left the field in the 67th minute, making way for teammate Harry Hayes. Salmon later returned to the sidelines, using crutches and with ice wrapped around his injured foot.

Bulldogs’ general manager of football, Phil Gould, disclosed the injury details via social media, stating, “Jaeman Salmon scans have revealed a fractured ankle… He will require surgery… Probably 10 weeks return to play… It is what it is… That’s football.”

This latest injury adds to the coaching challenges for Cameron Ciraldo, who already has to manage the absences of Josh Curran, Sitili Tupouniua, and Jacob Preston due to suspensions. The Bulldogs are set to face the Roosters this Friday night, a match that will be even more crucial given their depleted squad.
