A powerful weather system, characterised by cyclone-like winds and rain, is currently dissipating as it moves away from Australia. This system has been observed from space and is now evolving into a vast low-pressure system that spans much of the Tasman Sea. As it departs, the east coast is beginning to experience calmer conditions, with the winds and rain tapering off.

Despite the exiting storm, the coastline is anticipated to experience hazardous surf due to powerful tides. In Sydney, Wollongong, Newcastle, and the Central Coast, wind speeds are predicted to reach 20 km/h this morning before subsiding by midday. New South Wales is set for a sunny day with clear skies, enjoying a pleasant high of 18 degrees. The Australian Capital Territory (ACT) will share similar conditions, featuring partly cloudy skies and mild breezes.

Victoria’s forecast includes mostly sunny weather, although some early morning fog may be present in hilly areas. Daytime temperatures will reach around 15 degrees, with a slight chance of evening showers in the northwest, accompanied by winds of up to 30 km/h.

Queensland’s weather is expected to be exceptionally fine, characterised by sunshine and light winds, although there remains a minimal chance of rain. Temperatures there will climb to 21 degrees. In South Australia, the forecast indicates a high of 19 degrees with partly cloudy skies, as well as a slight chance of showers in the hills and southern suburbs during the morning, with winds reaching 25 km/h.

Tasmania is also in for a mostly sunny day, marked by patches of frost and light winds, further contributing to the variety of weather conditions across the states as the remnants of the weather system continue their journey away from the mainland.
