Iced coffee lovers in Australia have experienced disappointment after a major brand, Dare Iced Coffee, mistakenly informed participants of its “Daremergency” promotion that they had won a $1,000 prize. Customers who entered the competition received an email congratulating them on their supposed win, but just hours later, Dare issued a follow-up message stating that a “technical error” had occurred, meaning they were not actual winners.
The promotion involved scanning a QR code to enter a chance to claim a share of $1 million. Following the initial congratulatory email, recipients were disappointed to learn that they should disregard it due to the mix-up. Dare acknowledged the error and apologised for the confusion, with parent company Bega explaining that the notification mistake stemmed from a malfunction with a third-party system.
Dare plans to offer a $50 e-gift card to those affected as a form of compensation. They reassured customers that measures are being implemented to prevent such incidents in the future, reinforcing their commitment to transparency and fairness in their promotions.
