The Adelaide Fringe Festival kicks off tonight, and in a promising sign despite rising living costs, ticket sales have already exceeded last year’s numbers. With over 1,400 performances and a diverse array of genres, the festival has expanded its venues to a total of 573.

Festival director Heather Croall expressed enthusiasm over the growth of the Fringe across suburbs and rural areas, ensuring that the festival is accessible to all communities. To date, approximately 370,000 tickets have been sold, marking a 15 per cent increase compared to the same period last year.

South Australian Arts Minister Andrea Michaels highlighted the cultural and economic significance of the festival, noting its contribution of around $150 million to the state’s economy. The festival is not only a celebration of the arts but also a crucial component of South Australia’s economic landscape.
