The 2027 Netball World Cup will be aired live on Nine, following a new five-year broadcasting agreement with Netball Australia commencing in January. This partnership includes comprehensive coverage of all Super Netball games, Australian Diamonds matches, and the World Cup, which will take place in Sydney.
Fans will benefit from this deal as they can catch matches live on platforms like 9Now and Stan Sport. Specific Super Netball fixtures each round, all finals, every Diamonds match, and critical World Cup games will be available for free-to-air viewing on the 9Network.
Netball Australia chair Liz Ellis expressed enthusiasm for the new deal, stating it would elevate the sport’s visibility and inspire young athletes across the nation. She highlighted that Super Netball is the most supported women’s sport in Australia and emphasised the significance of showcasing the top global talent during the World Cup in Sydney.
Nine has historical ties with the Super Netball league, having initially broadcast it a decade ago. Stacey West, the chief executive of Netball Australia, praised this renewed partnership, affirming that fans have consistently expressed a desire for increased netball content.
Reflecting on the importance of the sport, West noted that it holds immense value for fans throughout Australia, enabling them to come together and celebrate their sporting heroes. Amanda Laing, managing director of streaming and broadcast at Nine Group, underscored netball’s deep-rooted presence in Australian communities, making it a natural fit among the nation’s cherished sports.
This agreement solidifies Nine’s position as a premier platform for women’s sports, joining its existing portfolio which includes the WTA Tour, NRLW, WNBL, WSL, women’s rugby, swimming, and athletics.
